Bahrain invites Qatar for bilateral talks

Cairo: Bahrain has invited Qatar for bilateral talks on pending issues between the two countries after Arab countries agreed last week to end a rift with Doha.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry said it has sent an invitation to its Qatari counterpart to dispatch an official delegation to Manama “as soon as possible”, to start bilateral talks in order to implement AlUla Declaration issued by a summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council leaders held in the Saudi city AlUla last Tuesday, Bahrain’s news agency BNA reported.

The invitation was sent by Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al Zayani to his Qatari counterpart Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The talks are aimed to “reach the lofty goals we aspire to achieve for benefits of citizens of the two brotherly countries, and to strengthen joint Gulf action,” the Bahraini official said in an invitation letter.

Bahrain has formed two committees – a follow-up committee and a legal committee — in line with the January 5 AlUla Declaration, he added, according to BNA.

Earlier this week, Bahrain said it would open its airspace to Qatar beginning from Monday.
