Bahrain: Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine delivery rescheduled
Cairo: A batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19, which was scheduled for arrival in Bahrain this month, will be delayed, the kingdom’s Health Ministry has said.
###
The batch will not be delivered on time and will be rescheduled, the ministry added, according to the Bahraini newspaper Al Watan. No specific time has been given.
###
Bahrain last month began vaccinations against COVID-19 aiming to inoculate a total of 1.5 million people including citizens and expatriates.
###
“This delay will not affect citizens and foreign residents who will receive the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in the coming period according to scheduled appointments as the required quantity is readily available,” the ministry said.

Emergency use
###
Bahrain was among the first countries to have requested the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as part of its plan to tackle the virus.
###
Bahrain last month became the second country in the world after the UK granting an emergency use authorisation for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19
###
The vaccination is available free of charge to all citizens and residents of the age of 18 years and above.
