COVID-19: Guests allowed to use private beaches at hotels in Oman

Muscat: As Oman closes it public beaches and parks yet again till further notice in the wake of increasing number of COVID-19 cases, hotel resorts with their own private beaches are open for their guests.

However, guests are required to adhere to the precautions at all times, including social distancing and wearing of masks.

In a warning issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the hotels are directed not to allow guests to use public beaches.

There are many hotels in Oman, situated close to beaches, but not necessarily with their own private beaches. This warning is expected to ensure due adherence by hotels in stopping its guests from visiting the public beaches in its vicinity.

The Ministry also called on these hotels to reduce the number of guests to half the permissible capacity in its restaurants, cafes and health clubs until further notice, failure of which will result in legal proceedings.

Salubrious weather and mild temperatures prevailing in Muscat and other towns and cities in Oman had the ubiquitous pretty beaches visited by families and groups of people, especially during weekends. With the current ruling, beaches and public parks are deserted again.

Oman has a number of beaches that are popular among the residents such as Shatti beach, Crowne Plaza beach, Azaiba beach, Qantab beach, apart from private beaches of major premium hotels.
