COVID-19: Kuwait records 646 new cases, 3 deaths

Cairo: Kuwait has recorded 646 further cases of the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, an increase of 13 cases compared to the tally reported the day before, taking the country’s overall infections to 84,224, a health official said Saturday.

All the new cases were in contact with previously infected people or are being investigated for sources of infection and identifying those who were in contact, the Health Ministry’s spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad added in an update.

The ministry announced three more deaths from COVID-19, bringing Kuwait’s total such fatalities to 528, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported.

There are 92 patients receiving intensive care treatment, Dr Al Sanad said.

Kuwait’s total virus tests have reached 611,639 after 3,718 tests have been done over the past 24 hours.

The Health Ministry also said that 673 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, raising to 75,993 the overall number of recoveries from the disease in Kuwait.

In recent weeks, Kuwait has relaxed virus-related restrictions. A partial nationwide curfew is due to be lifted on Sunday.
