Kuwait: Ex-deputy ministers sentenced to 7 years in prison for mishandling public funds
Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for two ex-deputy ministers from the Ministry of Health and three employees from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs for mishandling of public funds, Al Qabas reported.
The two ex-ministers were sentenced to seven years in prison, jointly fined 9.6 million Euros, dismissed from their jobs and prohibited from holding any public office position in the future.
As for the employees from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, one of which is an expat, all were sentenced to 10 years in prison, issued a 3,000 Kuwaiti dinars bail as the they are pending an appeal, obligated to jointly return 207,000 dinars and ordered them with fine twice the amount requested to be returned.
The first accused was also ordered to be dismissed from his position for misappropriating public funds, while the third accused (the expat) to be deported after implementing his punishment.
