Kuwait: Man arrested after explosives found at illegal camp

Cairo: Kuwaiti government teams, removing an illegal spring camp, found devices believed to be explosives inside the site, according to a local newspaper, citing a municipal official.

Police were alerted about the finds in the town of Al Jahra, west of the Kuwait City. A security force came to the site and arrested a Kuwaiti man who was in the camp, Al Jarida newspaper reported.

“During an inspection of an illegal camp, the inspection team found a bag containing substances believed to be explosive,” Sulaiman Al Gheis, an official at Al Jahra municipality, told the paper.

The suspected substances were handed over the General Department of Criminal Evidence to determine if they are still active, a security source told the paper.

“Initial investigations with the citizen, who was in the camp, have shown that those substances belong to his brother,” the source added.

The man has been referred to the state security agency to determine the source of those substances and the reason for keeping them in the camp, according to the source.
