Roman Reigns’ Next Feud Revealed After Surprise Attack on WWE RAW; Possible Money in the Bank Match
As seen on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, Roman Reigns came within inches of earning a spot in the upcoming men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, but found himself on the receiving end of a brutal attack by the “Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal.
It’s not totally clear what the former WWE Champion has against Reigns – I mean, other than the same thing everyone in New Jersey seemed to have against him tonight – other than being jealous that RAW General Manager Kurt Angle seemed to overlook him for a spot in the bout. Jinder picked up a much-needed victory over Chad Gable earlier in the night, but was flat out rejected by Angle when he asked to turn the main event triple threat match into a fatal 4-way bout.
With Roman taken out of the picture temporarily, Finn Balor was able to pick up the victory over the third man in the match, Sami Zayn. He will join Braun Strowman and six other men to be named at a later date.
WWE has been teasing yet another encounter between Reigns and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, even going so far as to call him the “uncrowned champion” following their controversial Steel Cage Match in Saudi Arabia. That being said, the “Beast Incarnate” was not in action at last night’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view, and even if he does return in the next six weeks to set up a match at Money in the Bank, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing the next chapter in their rivalry right away.
While things can always change, and there’s certainly a lot of time between now and then, it would appear that Reigns will be facing Jinder Mahal at the upcoming pay-per-view event in Chicago, IL. Outside of a random, brief encounter on Monday Night RAW in March 2017 the two have never faced each other in a major singles match.
