Saudi Arabia: COVID-19 vaccine now available for people aged 60 and over

Cairo: People aged 60 and above in Saudi Arabia now have access to the second dose of the vaccines against COVID-19, the country’s health authorities said.

Last month, the administration of the second dose of the inoculation was suspended to ensure availability of the first shot to a wider scale of would-be recipients.

“The second dose of the coronavirus vaccine is available to the category of the elderly at 60 years and above at all inoculation centres in different regions of the kingdom,” the Saudi Health Ministry said.

The number of doses administered so far across the kingdom has reached 13.6 million, according to the ministry.

Saudi Arabia initiated mass vaccinations against COVID-19 on December 17. Authorities have said the jabs are provided to citizens and expatriates for free.

A total of 447,178 coronavirus cases and 7,320 fatalities have so far been registered in the kingdom of around 34.8 million population.
