Saudi Arabia: Fights among main reasons for calling ambulance

Abu Dhabi: About 423,000 patients and injured were transported to hospitals by the Saudi Red Crescent last year after road accidents, quarrels, falls, burns, drowning, diseases, among other emergencies, occurred across Saudi Arabia, a report by the Ministry of Health for 2020 showed.

Mecca region topped the transfers of emergency cases with 113,799, followed by Riyadh with 84,243, then the Eastern Province with 51,166, Asir with 35,578, and then Madinah with 34,858.

Road accident injuries

###

The region witnessed the most injured in road accidents transported by the emergency service with 13,287, followed by Riyadh with 13,104, Asir with 6,790, and Eastern Province with 6,678, bringing the total along with other provinces to 59,580.

Fight injuries

###

Mecca also topped the list of fight injuries transported to hospitals by the Red Crescent with 2,238 cases, followed by Riyadh with 1,197, Eastern Province with 974, Asir with 758, then Hail with 451, bringing the total along with the rest of the regions to 8,141 cases.

Fall injuries

###

Some 6,262 injured people were transported to hospitals by the Red Crescent after falling in Riyadh, followed by Mecca with 6,221, Eastern Province with 3,867, Asir with 2,522, Medina with 2,412, bringing the total along with the rest of the regions to 28,286.

Burns

###

Mecca witnessed the transfer of 308 cases after being exposed to burns, followed by Riyadh with 301 cases, Eastern Province with 257, Asir with 147, and Medina with 128 cases, bringing the total along with the rest of the regions to 1,544 cases.

Sixty-eight drowning cases were reported in Mecca, followed by the Eastern Province with 31 cases, Riyadh with 22, Medina and Al Qassim with 20 cases each, then 17 drowning cases in Tabuk, bringing the total along with the rest of the regions to 223 cases.

Patients

About 90,168 patients were transferred to hospitals by the Red Crescent in Mecca region, followed by Riyadh with 61,913 patients, Eastern Province with 38,548, Medina with 27,141, and Asir with 24,570, bringing the total along with the rest of the regions to 315,609 patients.
