Saudi Arabia plans employment e-platform

Cairo: The Saudi government has approved setting up an electronic platform for seekers of jobs in the public and private sectors as the country is endeavouring to cut unemployment rates.

The envisaged facility, to be named the United National Platform for Employment, will serve as a data base for job hunters.

Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al Rajhi said that the platform will contribute to “unifying, improving and upgrading efficiency of procedures linked to employment” in the two sectors.

The platform was approved at a weekly meeting of the Saudi cabinet held Tuesday.It is not clear yet when the platform will be launched.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, an ambitious development scheme, envisages reducing unemployment rates, now standing at around 11 per cent, down to 7 per cent by 2030.

In recent months, the kingdom has expanded automatic services made available to the public as part of measures tackling the global coronavirus pandemic.
