Saudi Arabia: Second dose of COVID-19 jabs available in July

Cairo: The second dose of vaccines against COVID-19 will be made available in Saudi Arabia will be made available as of next month, the Saudi television Al Ekhbariya has reported.

Beginning from July, the second dose will be accessible to everyone, the state television quoted vaccination officials as saying.

Earlier, Saudi Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah had said that the second dose of the inoculation will be provided once big supplies of vaccines are available.

In April, the administration of the second dose of the inoculation was suspended to ensure availability of the first shot to a wider scale of would-be recipients.

The second dose of the vaccine was made available last month to the category of the elderly at 60 years and above in different regions of the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia initiated mass vaccinations against COVID-19 on December 17.

Over 16 million doses have since been administered at 587 inoculation centres across the country, according to figures from the Health Ministry.

Saudi Authorities have said the jabs are provided to citizens and expatriates for free.
