Saudi King, Crown Prince register for organ donation
Cairo: Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman have registered in a major organ donation programme in a gesture aimed to motivate people to follow their example.
The humanitarian step shows care for patients with end-stage organ failure and seeks to encourage Saudi citizens and foreign residents to sign up for the organ donation of the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation in view of its extreme importance in giving hope to patients whose lives depend on organ transplants, the Saudi news agency SPA reported.
The gesture also comes to boost standards of public health and medical sector efficiency in conducting such sophisticated operations and contributing to their success rates, it added.

King Salman had worked to set up the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation in support of the renal failure sufferers whose numbers are increasing and to stress importance of expanding organ donations to cover all patients with end-stage organ failure, SPA said.
The royal gesture of registration soon made an impression, with several Saudi officials following suit. They included Interior Minister Abdulaziz Bin Saud and governors of Medina and Jizan, Saudi media reported.
