Title Match Announced for WWE Raw After SummerSlam
WWE has confirmed that next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, along with the fallout of a hugely stacked SummerSlam pay-per-view, will feature the Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross making their first defense of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Challenging for the titles will be Asuka and Kairi Sane, the Kabuki Warriors.
Bliss and Cross won the belts in a Fatal 4-Way elimination-style match this past Monday night on Raw. In what may end up playing out in a future angle, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville noted that because they actually pinned and eliminated The IIconics, who were at the time the defending champions, that they should have first dibs at a title opportunity.
As previously reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Fatal 4-Way match was originally scheduled to take place at SummerSlam, but was moved to television as a last-minute decision. There will at least be one title defense in Toronto, Ontario at least, as Raw the next night will take place in the same venue.
